White American Sweet Tooth
Sarah Reynolds
We like to think we know shit about shit
(Yes, I am convinced.)
1.
I have this habit of analyzing my face, but I don’t know
How to terminate,
Tell this Narcissus
That it’s not like anyone’s watching.
It comes down to this:
I could never stop watching
It comes down to this:
I was low enough to chat with the Devil,
But I have a fear of socialization.
So drag me by the feet
Out the door, out to exist beyond my pillows
And slurp up that vitamin D.
Invite me, please
To your boating trips and sport nights,
Teach me chair soccer with the missionaries,
And make me question the leggings I’m wearing, ‘cause
You’re awfully kind, but
It takes a white American sweet tooth
To truly appreciate the free ice cream in the Jesus kitchen,
And I’m more a salt person, myself.
